Program Discription

All of the Greg Carter European Hockey Training Camps focus on individual skill development (ISD) to help students become more complete players. Through our unique drills, students will improve their control, agility, reflex, technique, edge, and muscle retention skills. Our ISD approach enables our students to learn each skill in a controlled environment and then apply speed and game situations to complete the lessons.

  TOTAL SKILLS

Our Total Skills hockey camp includes up to 30 hours of on-ice instruction. Students will focus on individual skill development (ISD) using a variety of on-ice equipment to complete our unique drills. During this camp, students will improve their control, agility, reflex, technique, edge, and muscle retention skills. We also work on offensive and defensive plays, and controlled game situations where students are encouraged to apply and work on their new skills.

  SKATING/STICKHANDLING

Our Skating/Stickhandling hockey camp includes up to 30 hours of on-ice instruction. While all skills are taught, more time will be spent on drills that specifically focus on puck control, agility, technique, and edge control. Students will begin by performing various stationary stickhandling drills using one puck, and then advance to moving drills and multiple pucks. The use of equipment, such as parallel bars, will be added to make stickhandling more challenging and force skaters to work on both puck and edge control at the same time.

  CHECKING/SHOOTING

Our Checking/Shooting hockey camp includes up to 30 hours of on-ice instruction. While all skills are taught, more time will be spent on checking techniques, such as battling for the puck in the corners and proper positioning of the players’ bodies when giving and receiving checks. This camp also focuses on shooting techniques, where all types of shots are taught (wrist, snap, slap, and backhand). Shooters work with and without defenders in the play as the lessons intensify. Specific drills are employed to help students with their reflexes and flexibility.

  DEFENSEMAN/SHOOTING

Our Defenseman/Shooting hockey camp includes up to  30 hours of on-ice instruction. While all skills are taught, more time will be spent on individual defenseman skills such as backward skating, quick stops and starts, edge control, body positioning, and battling in front of the net and in the corners. We also incorporate defensive game situations including 1-on-1, 2-on-1 and 3-on-2 rushes. This camp also focuses on shooting techniques, where all types of shots are taught (wrist, snap, slap, and backhand). Shooters work with and without defenders in the play as the lessons intensify. Specific drills are employed to help students with their reflexes and flexibility.
