Greg and Joe,
I feel it absolutely necessary to take a moment and thank you and your staff for the Greg Carter Camp my daughter recently attended. I am new to the hockey world and until recently had not heard of the camp. Walking into the ice rink for your camp, my daughter had completed her first house-league hockey program, only skating for approximately one year. Your camp inspired my daughter to make the goal of trying out for a local AA team, held a week after the camp. My daughter made the team and because she attributes the success to the Greg Carter Camp has asked to attend again. When I asked her the reason, she stated "Dad come on, the Greg Carter Camp, those guys got my skating a lot better". I truly think good coaching makes a huge impact on young athletes, and your staff Mike C. and Joe B. were by far the best a young skater (and her parents) could ask for. I am grateful for their abilities, inspiration and the friendship we have come to enjoy. So please accept my heartfelt "thank you" for everything you and your staff do for these young hockey players and their families. I look forward to many more Greg Carter Camps as my daughter progresses in achieving her athletic goals in hockey.
I want to share with you the story below. We believe that a big part of John's development is camps like yours and the focus on skating is a huge reason why John is able to control the puck like he does. John is 9 and has participated in your camp at Canlan in Romeoville the past 2 years.
On December 22nd, John competed in a shoot-out competition held by the Blackhawks. There were approx 100 kids who took shots on about 20 goalies in this competition. The top two "shooters" with the most goals, along with the top two goalies with the most saves advanced to the second round. John was one of the two shooters and the second round/semi-finals was held on January 8th during the Blackhawks game. During that round the boys were paired as a team (1 shooter and 1 goalie). The shooters took 3 shots on the opposing team's goalie. The team with the most goals won and that was JOHN's team! It was very exciting and he looked great and so calm despite the crowd of 21,000+ people!
Now the Hawk will fly him to Los Angeles later this month so he can represent them at the NHL All-Star game. The boys get to walk the red carpet with all the NHL All-Stars, go to the game and best of all they will compete against other kids from various NHL team's that held the same contest.
We hope your camp can continue to be part as big of a part of John's development as it was the last two years.
Dear Matt/the Chilled Ponds Team, and the rest of the Greg Carter European Hockey Summer Camp Team:
We want to say, "Thank you," for a job well done. Our son Mason Haynes attended your summer camp at Chilled Ponds; we've both not stopped raving about the camp to anyone who will listen!
The accountability of the adults you had in place, Mr. Carter, was the best!
Your team pushed my son to be the best player he could be -- during the first day, he was already noticing improvements and was asking to return to the camp again next year!
And things got better from there!!
Mason felt the adults knew him; he never complained about how hard he had to work.
In fact, at the end of camp, Mason was asking Matt if camp could be EXTENDED an additional week!!
You have an excellent program! The amount of time the campers were on the ice -- it was supreme!!
As a matter of fact, we just got home from the Pittsburgh Penguins Day Camp at UPMC in Cranberry; from Day One at the Pens Camp, Mason was --- again --- asking for MORE CAMPS LIKE GREG CARTER!!
Honestly -- there was just NO comparison!!
Thank you for bringing the camp down to Chilled Ponds in Chesapeake! We will definitely be looking for your camp next summer!!
Again, our thanks!
Kim Henry for camper Mason Haynes
"Just wanted to drop a quick note to say your staff (Ryan and Ryan I believe the girls said) last week were AWESOME!!! The professionalism, kindness, organization... everything about them was great!! My staff and the kids parents couldn't say enough great things about them and let me tell you the girls at the desk can be tough on people and they specifically sent text messages and phoned me raving about it all in amazement!! My comment to the girls was Greg Carter doesn't stand for anything less than amazing and has always had exceptional staffs and trains them to do awesome things on the ice...
My son recently attended the Greg Carter camp in New Jersey and I wanted to pass along how great of an experience it was for both him and me. I was really curious in how the camp would be different from other camps he has attended in the past. I spent the entire week watching the camp and I truly believe that this camp is one of the best around.
The kids spent close to 5-hours each day on the ice, in a fast paced environment going from one drills to the next. This fast-paced environment kept the kids fully engaged in each of the drills and provided a strenuous work-out throughout the day. My son came away with better skating skills and a true understanding of how important it is to work with his skate edges for a competitive advantage against other players.
This isn’t a camp where kids stand around and have the opportunity to goof off. This camp is truly for the hockey player who already has the basic skills mastered and is looking to take his skating and stick handling to the next level and truly challenge themselves. It’s a very long week of intense practice and I was amazed in the level of endurance and confidence that I saw in my son and all the players attending this camp.
We can’t wait to return next year and we hopefully should have several of his teammates joining the experience as well.
This is by far, the best hockey camp if you want your kids to become better players and to be tested to their max. The coaches are phenomenal and the kids just adore them. Quality people + quality drills/instruction = exceptional camp.
My three boys have done the spring league, summer 3 on 3 and the Sunday skill sessions, we have had a great experience
Son just finished this camp in Northbrook and had a fantastic week. Very attentive coaches, fun atmosphere, and a well-run program. Impressed!
My two boys had a fantastic time up in Plattsburgh, NY with coach Mike. They learned so much in that one week and have not only improved substantially, but gained a lot of confidence in their balance and skills as well.
This is the best hockey camp there is for player development. If you are serious about the game, you have to be skating with Greg Carter!
My children love this camp! The kids are kept moving on the ice the whole time and I've definitely seen improvements in their skating over the week! I would highly recommend this camp to anyone looking for a hockey camp with great instructors and great results!
The teaching and professionalism from your staff was outstanding. They have gone the extra mile to work with my son if needed, have made hard work fun and demonstrated great passion for what they do with the sport of hockey. I am duly impressed and hope to send both my son and daughter next year.
Using the CARTER Method, skaters build on each days' skills and are challenged to reach their full potential as the hockey camp progresses. We don't teach systems or plays at our hockey schools – we leave that to your team coaches. We don't spend time off ice, either.
